Sound Engineer – Intern

As a sound engineer, you would control the sound at live events such as concerts and festivals. You would operate microphones, amplifiers and control desks to balance the sound levels, and you might also provide background music and sound effects.
Your job might include:

  • discussing the production’s sound needs with the director or sound designer
  • knowing where in the script any sound effects, music and changes in sound level are needed
  • pre-recording any sound effects and music to be used
  • choosing suitable microphones and equipment
  • positioning and rigging up microphones
  • doing sound checks before a performance
  • operating the sound desk during shows
  • following a sound plan (known as a ‘plot’) and cues from the deputy stage manager
  • looking after and repairing the equipment
  • unloading, setting up, dismantling and loading equipment at each venue when on tour

You could also help to set up and operate lighting equipment as part of a sound and lighting crew.

Skills and knowledge:

  • good hearing, for judging sound quality
  • a good sense of pitch, timing and rhythm
  • a knowledge of electronics and acoustics
  • good practical skills
  • patience and concentration
  • a keen interest in music and sound
  • the ability to cope with long hours and tight deadlines
  • good communication and people skills
  • awareness of health and safety

Must have:

  • Current student or recent graduate of recognized sound engineering program
  • Own vehicle in good condition
  • Excellent driving record
  • No criminal record
  • Two (2) professional references
  • Fluent in Spanish

Independent Sales Rep – Pro Audio Equipment

If you enjoy working with professional audio equipment for concert venues, theaters, banquet halls, churches, live music festivals, and nightclubs, this can be a great opportunity for you with high income potential.

We’re an independent record label and live music production company located in Houston, TX. We’re launching our line of professional audio products to be distributed throughout North America. This position is 100% commission-based to start for a 3-6 months probation, leading to a full-time position. If you’re a dedicated, career-minded, professional salesperson, with the ability to understand your customer’s specific needs, and have the drive to succeed in a challenging industry, we would like to hear from you.

You must have knowledge of pro audio equipment, i.e., line arrays, speakers, amplifiers, and a background in sound, stage, and lighting for concerts, outdoor festivals, churches, clubs, banquet halls, etc.

Your job is to showcase, promote, and sell pro audio equipment in Houston, surrounding areas, and the rest of North America. May involve travel. Must have strong verbal communication techniques and the ability to explain our pro audio equipment in layman’s terms to the ordinary consumer, and not immerse them in technobabble, so you can connect with them at their level–whether they’re newbies or pros. At the same time, you must be technically knowledgeable on pro audio sound and have knowledge of the pro audio industry. You’ll be interacting with professional people and consumers that are looking for exceptional sound quality for their venue, home, event, or business, and be able to recommend the most suitable equipment from our vast inventory.

This is a 100% commission-based sales position.

Must have:

  • Experience in pro audio sales
  • Own vehicle in good condition
  • Excellent driving record

  • Two (2) professional references
  • Fluent in Spanish and/or French and/or Mandarin Chinese
